The department supports the wearing of school uniform which promotes a sense of belonging for students and creates a positive identity for the school community. Students within NSW Department of Education schools are to show respect by dressing appropriately by wearing the agreed school uniform or dress code as outlined within the Behaviour Code for Students.
Hats
A school hat is to be worn every day. The school hat is available for purchase from the school office or uniform shop. Caps or other hats are not to be worn as the endorsed green broadbrim hat complies with the Sun Safety for Students Guidelines. Students are encouraged no hat – play in the shade.

Representative Jumpers
Students are able to purchase representative jumpers (PSSA, Dance Festival etc) at a cost to individual families. Whilst these items are part of NSW DoE events they are not endorsed by the P&C as part of the uniform policy of Bateau Bay Public School. Parents and carers who choose to purchase one of these items do so with the understanding that they are to worn only on specific days communicated with families.
General
o Minimal make-up is permitted at school.
o Clothing is to have no logos, branding, emblems (excluding the approved school images).
o Hair accessories are to be green, black or white (school colours).
o Minimal jewellery including only studs or plain sleepers for earrings.
o Smart watches should not be worn to school however if they are students are to hand them to staff in the morning in line with the Bateau Bay Public School Digital Communication Devices Procedures.
o Year 6 shirts can be worn by Year 6 students in their final year of primary schooling. The designs of this special shirt will be finalised in consultation with the Year 6 cohort. Whilst these are an exciting part of schooling they are not mandatory components of the school uniform policy.
School Uniform Shop
School uniforms can be purchased at the school uniform shop located near the school hall. The school uniform shop is managed by the Bateau Bay PS P&C Association. Current opening times are available via the school website or by contacting the office. Parents are also able to purchase uniforms online via FlexiSchools. All profits from the Uniform Shop are used to purchase new resources and equipment to enhance our children's learning.
The school uniform shop is located on the far side of the school hall.
